Nostell suffered a bad defeat in their quest for
a top four finish when they were beaten by promotion rival Tadcaster at home.
Nostell were missing several players through injury and other commitments.
Neither team settled well but Long forced a corner after chasing down a long
ball. Bedford floated in a corner but Watts' header was off target.
Tadcaster then created a good chance when Watts miss-judged his tackle and
then Drury and Johnson managed to clear from the cross.
Highley then tested the keeper from 35 yards but his effort was straight at
the keeper. Johnson then beat his man and whipped in a fine cross but Bedford
met the cross too well and headed over from 6 yards. Nostell then took the
lead when Long's shot was blocked and the rebound fell to Johnson who neatly
lifted the ball over the advancing keeper. Tadcaster then equalised when a
hopeful ball eluded everyone and Walsh was left with a free header at the
far post.
Tadcaster scored immediately from the second half kick off, when the ball
broke on the edge of the Tadcaster box, a long ball reached Downing who fired
a first time shot past Ainsley from 25 yards. Tadcaster then extended their
lead when Ellis latched onto a loose ball from 25 yards out and fired a screaming
shot past Ainsley. Nostell then thought they had clawed one back when Bedford's
corner appeared to go over the line, but the assistant waved play on. Long
then saw an effort go just over from the edge of the box when he tried to
lob the keeper after a corner was cleared. Nostell then pulled one back when
Highley charged down a clearance and Watts tucked the ball away.
Nostell continued to press for the equaliser and in injury time Bedford floated
a ball in but the Ryder took the ball well under pressure at the back post.
Overall a disappointing result for Nostell who must pick themselves up for
the visit to champion chasing Winterton on Saturday. UK Phone Solutions Man

AFC Emley 0 v 3 Nostell
Nostell put in one of their best performances since
the turn of the year with a comprehensive victory over local rivals Emley.
It was Nostell who started the better with 2 corners in quick succession,
the second resulted in Wilkinson's header being tipped over. The game then
settled down and Emley tried to take advantage of the stiff wind behind them.
Rushton then released Stephens who beat the offside trap but saw his effort
saved, the rebound then fell to Johnson who's effort was also blocked and
cleared. Emley then had their first chance when a free kick was well taken
but equally matched by Darby. Emley then had another chance when Day beat
Jackson and the ball fell to Eastwood who shot wide. Nostell then created
a few more chances Johnson had 2 efforts saved by the keeper. Jackson then
floated over a free kick that Wilkinson met but again the keeper tipped it
over. Nostell then took a deserved lead when Rushton flicked the ball to Stephens
who released Johnson who kept his nerve and slipped the ball under the keeper.
Nostell came out after half time and almost doubled their lead when Ruston
fired a cross field ball to Beardsmore who lobbed the keeper but saw his effort
hit the post. Highley then played in Rushton who beat the keeper but fired
wide. Nostell then managed to double their lead when Johnson won the ball
on the edge of the box and squared it to Stephens who coolly slotted home.
Emley then had their first chance of the 2nd half on 77 minutes when Clarke
beat Beardsmore and fired at goal. This spurred the home side on and they
had a period of pressure but they couldn't break the deadlock. A quick free
kick resulted in Wilkinson bringing down Prasher on the edge of the box, the
resulting free kick was headed wide by Hazelden. Nostell substitute Nicholas
was then put through by Highley but his first touch evaded him and the keeper
managed to save it.
Nostell then made the game safe in the 90th minute when from an Emley corner
Highley fed Hewitt who chipped the keeper from the edge of the box for a delightful
end to the game. UK Phone Solutions Man of the Match was Wilkinson
